Mike Bradley began playing the guitar at the age of 10. Introduced to the instrument by his father, a singer/songwriter also, Mike learned all the basic country and blues patterns needed for the beginning guitarist. Eventually, he taught himself hard rock chords and riffs. Throughout junior high and high school, he formed various backyard party bands with his friends from school, performing everything from Bad Company to Led Zeppelin. At the same time he also took classical guitar lessons and plays classical music for weddings and other special events.
In 1992 Mike moved to Nashville, TN to enroll into Belmont University's commercial music program where he studied classical, jazz, and rock guitar with John Pell, the lead instructor for the university. In addition to guitar lessons, he also performed with a wide variety of musicians from the school, which increased his ability to mesh with other musicians. After several semesters in the program he decided to take guitar lessons exclusively, yet lived in Nashville for two more years.
In 1996, he returned to Chapel Hill, NC and joined an all original band called Stone's Cry to make a CD produced by John Plymale. This band traveled and performed for two years. Afterwards, he decided to play in several cover bands including Suicide Blonde and The Staircase Band, and has opened for such acts as The Tams, Michael W. Smith, and Tone Loc. During this time, he began teaching guitar as a private guitar teacher. Mike currently teaches 35 students of all age groups. In addition to teaching, Mike currently performs with The Flabbergasters and is considered one of the most soulful and talented guitar players in the business.
